Uninor - new telco in India

          Uninor the new mobile operator in INDIA takes up the challenge with a Tag line  “Ab mera number hai” or “My time is now”. The Telenor Group’s Indian mobile operation last week announced that its services in India will be named Uninor

      The new telco Uninor name will leverage from Telenor Group’s established marketing and design framework, increasing the efficiency and accuracy when introducing the brand to the Indian market. The brand unifies the global telecom expertise of the Telenor Group and the presence in and understanding of the Indian market of Unitech Ltd. in a common identity.The services has been started in 7 cities and will continue to grow by 2010 as told by the CEO during the press conference.





      As in several other markets in several countries where Telenor Group is present, the new name follows Telenor’s brand strategy, combining the global position of Telenor Group with a distinct local flavor.

   Telenor entered the Indian mobile market through the acquisition of Uninor in 2008/2009. The launch happens only eight months after the first investment into Uninor on 20 March 2009.
